One of the tools used in IT that die hard is Cisco VPN Client. Yes, we are talking the old IPSEC client. It’s still very popular although Cisco Systems has announced it to be EOL (End of Life). So one of the big questions while starting to work with our Windows 10 test install was can we still use Cisco VPN Client? And the answer is yes we can!

There are still some steps to take since it doesn’t work right out-of-box. I gathered the info here! You need the first two for DNE LightWeight Filter to install correctly.

  1. Install Citrix DNE Updater. You can download the Citrix DNE Updater from here. There are 32bit and 64bit versions available.
  2. Installed the SonicWall VPN Client from Dell. You can download the SonicWall VPN Client from here without login or from here if you can login. There are 32bit and 64bit versions available.
  3. Install Cisco VPN Client. We expect you to have this already. If not, please contact to your VPN connection provider.

Sometimes there still are some problems when you try to connect, then you should check the registry. There is a registry key that controls the name of the VPN Adapter.
